Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi all, not sure if anyone else has the same issue but we have had people sitting on our door step smoking crack quite a few times recently, even in broad daylight. Attached photo taken from our doorbell. More of a warning than anything else. We are at the bottom of Hewitt Rd.

Definitely worth reporting to the police as it happens. Helps to build a record of activity.

Yes, this is becoming relatively common, unfortunately. For a while, they were getting their deliveries from dealers in cars on Harringay Rd before heading off into the surrounding streets to smoke. If you start to notice patterns and collect evidence (eg, loitering around waiting for deliveries at similar times each day, pictures of dealers' number plates etc) the police do take action. They've caught a few dealers recently on the Levels as a result of residents collecting evidence.

Good to hear. Do you also get the bicycle or e-scooter dealers?

Yes, it happens to me too. I've found that a decent gate, and remembering to keep it latched, are something of a deterrent.  I once found someone asleep in a sleeping bag on my front path, totally out of it.

It happened quite recently in my building. They managed to get in the front door and were smoking in the hallway. Police were called so it's worth reporting so they know if its a pattern

I've had that too - during the day and night.

At night I've found keeping a light on downstairs definitely helps.

Also challenging them in a non-aggressive way seems to do the trick but that obviously that involves a level of risk.

My ultimate solution is  a junkie-unfriendly tiling pattern but I'll let you know how that goes.

Aggresiv challenge works well to.

Dont be to nice. Same guys rob to get there hit and crap in the passige

Looks like you have the same issues on the Ladder that we've had around Chestnuts Park area. We've had them break into our bin stores to inject and smoke. Had a year of trying to collect information on the various dealers and users to try and combat things. I would definitely call the police on blatant dealing...etc. For these guys smoking I have found the Police do very little. We've had an organisation called BUBIC come out to do walks and engage with users. Trouble is some don't want help.

We had this a couple of years ago when the basement flat

wasn’t occupied. The local police Safer Neighbourhoods Team were helpful and would pass by on their patrols and keep an eye on the spot as a deterrent. I don’t know if they are still active and it’s hard to find a number for them online but maybe call the non emergency number and ask them?

If you put your location in here you get to the online contact details for the Safer Neighbourhoods Team

I reported it yesterday..... again.....after a week of walking past piles of crap, being asked for money and walking past them with my kids whilst they smoke crack wrapped in blankets in the passage - I find it so depressing.

I recognise this hat from a guy I saw smoking crack in the telephone box on Crouch End Broadway last week. Wondering where these guys actually live, and if they come to GL just to meet dealers. Such a shame. Do you think it’s got worse lately?
