Just saw the news being shared on Twitter. Imagine it'll come as a huge relief to the residents of Finsbury Park!

The money though - the reason the park has had so much investment is precisely because friends of the park made sure the money from festivals was spent only on the park.
But can't you see it makes perfect sense to have a WIRELESS Festival at Crystal Palace? Of course they could have moved it to Ally Pally which also has a giant transmitter but imagine the amount of hot air that would generate locally. Speaking of hot air (balloons), did anyone know that there used to be barrage balloons flying from AP?
Morning CC, following your point,
"The friends" objected to Money raised in FP being used else where in the borough. I have always wondered where the centre of gravity of The Friends organisation is? I don't know why I think this, but I've always assumed (probably wrongly) of them as being Islington based. A bit like the Finsbury Park area forum which was proposed some years ago and seemed to me to be weighted in that direction.
Anyway, the friends must be running out of funds, didn't I see a crowd funder for a new skatepark posted on HOL a week back.

Your bafflement is entirely understandable.
Because of course , it is incredibly difficult to find out even the slightest solid fact concerning the mysterious group, part legend, part fictitious, known as the Finsbury Parkinati.
I can help. Historically the name may refer to strange symbols in cave paintings in France. And later to Egyptian glyphs yet to be decoded. And most recently a Haringey parking ticket found by Nasa on its Mars explorer.
The quest continues for scraps of knowledge. Keep the fresh theories coming. But please please DO NOT risk seeking to join the Friends Group.
I had some neighbours who joined years and years ago. Six months later they'd disappeared. Haven't seen them since. I always wondered if they'd been beamed up.
<big smile>
Talking of Ally Pally, there are plans afoot to increase hugely the number of large outdoor events allowed in the Park, and to increase the amount of decibels they are allowed to create. Plan is that "unlimited" number of smaller events will be allowed. Great implications for wildlife (not to mention us residents. My front garden is already used as a loo by passersby due to almost total lack of provision in the park. )
