Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Another visit to our garden this lunchtime. Another sparrow didn't make it through to the afternoon.  But I did get a photo before the hawk flew away.

Interesting. Have only seen a sparrowhawk just the once in the Gardens. Which road are you on?

We are at the West Green Road end of Etherley Road - not an especially quiet area!

Well spotted.

Must be the resident sparrow hawk. Took this photo outside our window yesterday. We're in the gardens.

Judging from the markings, they are different birds. I think the one that visits our garden is a male while yours is female?

Excellent photo!

Etherley Road always seems to have a diverse abundance of birds. There must be something particularly good about your gardens there! There’s a few evergreen hedges in the front gardens, which are always full of sparrows & flocks of starlings on the roofs.

It would be great if we could all record all these sightings, it can really help with understanding more about wildlife in our area. The iNaturalist app is really easy to use & bird (wildlife) sightings on there help inform the status of wildlife in Haringey/London.

Thanks for that recommendation.

Saw a sparrowhawk in my back garden in Stanhope Gardens when the snow was on the ground.

Unfortunate prey was a white dove.

Interesting. I thought there were fewer pigeons and birds in general around the Claremont Road area. Also had some bundles of pigeon feathers in the garden in the past, so assume that this is the reason.

We had a sparrowhawk take out a sparrow in our garden about 4-5 months back, just across the way from Saddi's house.  Definitely a local!
