Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Matt pointed out that I hadn't posted the Ducketts Common consultation results from last year. Many thanks to everyone who took part.

I understand from Groundwork (who ran the consultation) that everyone who took part in the consultation was sent a copy of the results.

The results are attached.

That is why in recent times Haringey have actively sought to set up Friends Groups where they don't exist - Ducketts Common being an example of this.

I think this partnership working between local residents and councils is both necessary, and crucial if parks and residential areas (installing lower speed limits better lighting, increased street cleaning) are to serve the people who live there.

There is a very strong umbrella group of friends of parks groups throughout the whole of Haringey

and an equally strong umbrella group of Residents Associations - watch the film to see the impressive reach of RAs from east to west of the borough.

These are recognised groups that are open to all, and have democratically elected officers.
This is cold comfort for the transient community in Haringey who are here for a short time to enjoy our parks.
Well, let them stop being transient then, and settle and work to improve the community facilities.
Every day I walk past the common on the outside (Frobisher Road end) - it would so much nicer to walk inside and see the daffodils (soon to be hidden by the hedge); safer as very fast traffic drives past a narrow unprotected pavement; and more comfortable in the rain, as the traffic drives through large puddles!
I hope the proposed new opening and path from the southern end gets your support.
Just saw this thread. Can anyone clarify what stage the plans are at and whether they can be briefly summarised? Can't access anything our security software classes as "Sport" at work.

One thing is for sure - the priority for the people of Harringay vis-a-vis Ducketts Common has surely to be safe access. The road by the Queen's Head pub is, currently, virtually uncrossable.

On a related topic, does anyone know the best person to badger / liaise with / speak to re the planned upgrade of Anstey's Walk play area (the council call in Culross)? I have been on to Ronnie Roache but I wonder whether Play England are now in charge...
