It's clearly not written by a native English speaker which Mr. James Pollard (if it was indeed him) would be for sure.  It really looks like  scam.

The measures we take, keep the vast majority of this type of thing at bay. But this is a good reminder that even we’re not perfect!

Of course, it goes without saying that no one should email the address provided.

No application is just approved without thought. I've got pretty good at spotting the suspect ones. But I missed this one. 

Where I've reason to be suspicious, I run a number of checks. This one presented no flags. So I didn't check.

Having said that, I think this is the first spammer that's got on to the site in about ten years, I think.

Smart thinking on your behalf to question that Alicia.  So infuriating knowing there are people out there who try such things on.   And good old Hugh for doing his utmost.   Take care everyone.
