Now that our only permitted exercise is a walk or bike ride from our house and back, many more people are making for the green spaces in the neighbourhood for walks and fresh air. I hope that, like in the last lockdown, people get time to notice seasonal changes and find some peace in the outdoors.
With this in mind, I thought I'd start a Nature Notes photography corner for anyone who ventures out with a camera (and lets face it how many of us don't have a camera with us these days) with a theme every month. This January, I'm starting with trees in Winter.
The idea is that people take photos of trees on their walks or in their neighbourhood that they particularly liked and share their pictures here. It is absolutely NOT a competition, the point being to help people to discover the nature in their neighbourhood and to share their findings with others.
and a picture of Lordship Rec Lake trees from the week before.
Both pictures were taken with a phone camera.
I like to make lakes and ponds my destination on my walks in Winter as you can do a spot of birdwatching and try and spot winter ducks like Shovelers or Pochards amongst the Mallards.
Please share your pictures in the comments below. Don't be shy!
February's theme will stick with trees but we'll concentrate on the evergreens and their winter berries.
