Anyone else had any experience of how bad the track and trace system is at our local restaurants? Went last night and it was pretty terrifying - drank more wine to numb my nerves but is there anything we can do to encourage them to do T&T so they can remain open and operate safely or maybe they don’t care if we are potentially going into another lockdown on Monday

Haven't been to any of the local restaurants in a bit, apart from The Finsbury a couple of weeks ago. There I wasn't asked for any details, but I have to say that my friends were already there when my girlfriend and I arrived. So they might still have been asked. However, what I've noticed is that some places around London which were doing it at the beginning, aren't doing it anymore.
Regarding Green Lanes, what I've found is that there are a lot of people inside shops not wearing a mask.
There is no point when the data isn't even being used https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/oct/24/pub-and-restaurant-ch...
Going into a crowded restaurant and suggesting that a lack of TT is the problem seems a bit like a smoker arguing that the medical images on their pack of Marlboros are not graphic enough.
Dining indoors is inherently dangerous in the current environment. Inadequate ventilation and close proximity made that clear over 6 months ago.
I imagine there was a q-code available, otherwise they would be in breach of the law and fined.as ChickenWays on Green Lanes has just found out.

I have been out for Turkish a few times and they asked for details every time. Staff wearing masks, sufficient space between tables and screens between them too. I felt as safe as can be.
The old ale runs a very tight ship. They insist you text your name for t&t and enforce masking on entry and when away from your seat (proper masks too, none of this shirt collar/scarf over mouth nonsense)
Let’s not kid ourselves. The OAE is far too small to be safe, masks or no masks. The Salisbury - with its infamous lack of any ventilation whatsoever - isn’t much better. The only mystery is why they’ve still not managed to source any patio heaters...
I suspect their licence doesn't allow heaters.
Similar thing here Neil. Saw at least a dozen squished around a table for some kind of celebration while other people (attending the same do?) wandering from table to table maskless. Perhaps we should thank these business for contributing to the increased infection rate that has lead to the latest lockdown, or perhaps they wanted to be shut down for four weeks?
My heart really goes out to those businesses on Green Lanes that have done their utmost to make their premises Covid safe but have been thrown on the bonfire by their couldn’t give a damn neighbours.
Hi folks,
An article from El Pais about the spread of covid in internal spaces,
I hope the link works.
