Cineworld Wood Green to Shut Down
Reuters has reported the following relating to the temporary closure of its cinemas:
Cineworld, the world’s second-biggest cinema operator, will close all its screens in the United States, Britain and Ireland this week after studios pulled major releases such as the latest James Bond film, a person familiar with the situation said.
Efforts to get audiences back into theaters have proved disappointing. While bigger chains like AMC Entertainment, Cineworld and others have reopened many locations, crowds have been thin. Small and mid-sized theatre companies have said they may not survive the impact of the pandemic. Cineworld had said viewers returned to watch “Tenet”, a Christopher Nolan spy thriller that became a test case for the wider industry when it became the biggest release to open in cinemas in late August since schedules were torn up in March.
But the postponement of Bond, plus delays to other big releases such as superhero movie “Black Widow” and Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” give cinema lovers little reason to return.

And even before Corvid was around never saw that many people using the complex

The Picture House Crouch End has also closed from tonight- it's owned by Cineworld.

Oddly, the list of Picturehouse cinemas that are closing includes Finsbury Park...which as far I know never actually opened!

I am actually glad this hideous place is closing. I disliked the whole complex from inception. By the way I'm from Harngey/ Islington originally and care slot about the hideous so called upgrading of the area. This particular area when I do risk frequenting reeks of urine and undesirable persons. I often wonder what the previous inhabitants of Wood Green (who I enjoy reading about) would make of this sully area it has become. I only recall the area from my own childhood and later when as a 13 year old started working in retail in the shopping centre. I started working there from 1984 to 1991. Believe me Wood Green was a shopping destination. Now it is shabby and smelly.

Who chose in large numbers to Shop online instead of visit Retail Shops
Not forgetting greed of Landlords. Often Pension Funds home and overseas
Plus ever rising Local Rates and running costs
