I'd like to share a very emotional finding we made while having some work done in the loft of our house on Woodlands Park Road.
We found inscriptions on the chimney stack, supposedly made by D Thompson in 1941, during WW2.
You can see the pictures attached.
It says (line per line)
- D. Thomps (assuming D Thompson ?)
- 4 dec 1941
- Heil Hitler (or Hell?)
- Bomb damage
- F* you
I tried to find more info about the bombings during the Blitz in Harringay but also on the Bomb Sight website where we can see the impact on Woodlands Park Road. But the dates do not match: On Bomb sight it says (Fell between Oct. 7, 1940 and June 6, 1941) but the inscription on our chimney stack says 4th Dec 1941. That's maybe just the date when he did the repair?
Not sure if this is something local historians would be interested to discuss a bit more? Also keen to find out more about D Thompson !
Has anyone else on the forum found similar inscriptions?

No worries at all John! We are close to the nursery on Woodlands Park Road. Are you saying your mates house was on the same side as the nursery?
Having just looked at Google map Peter I think reasonably certain that my mate's house was probably middle of terrace before Rowley Road junction.
I lived in the prefabs from 1960 to 1971 at number 86 Woodlands Park Road where the nursery is now on the right hand side going towards West Green Road, There was also numbers 88,90, and 92 to our right. To our left was 4 or 5 prefabs and opposite on the other side of the road was another 4 prefabs, The line of bombs can be followed through to Brampton Road and Ritches Road where there was also prefabs and now newer builds. I think the bombs were directed at the Ever Ready Factory
