Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

As this forum is always so helpful just trying this one..... a friend needs to get a blood test but has found (?) the Laurels is no longer offering these and the North Mid has no appointments available, begging the question, how are patients meant to get these done?

Can anyone shed any light, please?

Call their doctor ?

That GP doesn't do blood tests - they get you to go elsewhere.

The surgery on Park Road does them - Queenswood.

See clinics and services - https://www.queenswoodmedicalpractice.co.uk/#

That's only possible if you're a patient there, right?

I had blood tests done at the laurels last week

Thanks - did you have to make an appointment?

Yes. You just ring up a central number and appointments are available in about 2 days. The number is on the north mid website

Thanks!

Went through this with my Brother. Who had a Hospital appointment where a blood test was required.

Doctor sent forms, but forgot to stamp it Urgent , so Laurels refused it

Ended up booking in a visit to Diabetic Nurse at North Middlesex who carried out Blood Test

People in the West of the Borough need to be careful as some of the Doctors there use Enfield Hospitals. So Blood tests can not be seen by other Doctors or North Middlesex Hospital

Remember the Days when doctors nurses was doing Blood Tests

My last blood test was at the Laurels two weeks ago. GP gave me a note saying what tests were needed. I rang the designated number and asked for an appoinment at the Laurels (which was not offering a walk in service during the lock down). I was given an 11am appointment a few days later and walked there at 10.45. There was so little going on in the building that I was out before 11. Best experience ever. I hope they haven't gone back to the old system!

My GP at the heron practice had booked blood tests for me next week with the nurse at the surgery. As I have underlying conditions And don’t feel confident to travel into central London yet, they agreed to do the tests my specialist needed and forward the results. I know this varies from practice to practice, as a friend of mine couldn’t get tests done at laurels recently ( though things look as though they changed at laurels after reading Dicks comments above)

Thanks - yes, some practices do them for the over 60s but not this one. The one over the road does, which is one reason some of my neighbours defected there when ours went into special measures. I'd have thought every practice needs to offer this service instead of sending people trekking miles out of their way, especially when fasting.
