Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

A friend who used to live here but has moved is coming over on Sunday and wants to go to Bun and Bar because she has some very happy memories of going their for cocktails.  However I walked past the other day and it looked completely different - weird high tables with those horrible stools you have to perch precariously on, no menus in the window and it looked completely empty.  Has it changed hands or just had a refit - did I just walk past on an off-night, it used to be rammed in their most nights?

I've been in for burgers and it seemed pretty much the same. Main difference was that it had table service rather than bar service although I'm not sure whether that continues later into the night. I'm not too keen on the new layout, it made it feel a bit smaller, but not a huge difference.

To the observer it does appear to have lost a bit of its identity after the refurbishment and looks like it may have fallen into new management which, is most likely true given that the company is being struck off Companies House as we speak.

Also appears to be in the hands of the person who runs the Sama foods cash & carry. Not to say that he didn't/doesn't do a good job at it, but proves my thesis 80% of all food service businesses are held by Turkish business syndicates that cover the whole supply chain. I have also noticed the chap working at some of the off-licences on the Grand Parade man the tills at the distinctly non-Portuguese Abraco.

So the direction of travel is probably more homogeneity of underlying offerings under more diverse brands/banners...

That doesn't look quite right, it was only incorporated in August 2018. Judging by the address that's the one near Finsbury park.

Actually the person has another Bun & Bar LTD registered at a residential address in Enfield since 2014 so it checks out.

The Sama foods boys are the original owners. I saw one of them in there, having a meeting until the table was required, the weekend of the Lantern Parade. It was full and they still did cocktails but not quite the same selection of beer or live music.

We’ve eaten there as a family both before and since. The main change is that there’s table service and that there’s no chestnut mushroom option but a veggie burger instead, which is the usual mushy affair. They do have just roasted veggies in a bap which is delicious.
The new seats are MUCH more comfy according to my husband and his skinny backside!

Ketchup instead of burger sauce. Place is Ruianed.
