Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Late license applied for, for the old Captains Kabin kebab shop opp Harringay Gdns
News from Ian Sygrave (chair of the Local Community Safety Partnership). He has come accross a small ad in the Hornsey Journal regarding a licensing application for the old Captains Kabin kebab shop over the road from Harringay Gardens. They have submitted a licensing request to sell alcohol and play recorded music until 4am on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and 5am on special occasions (some bank holidays, weddings and birthdays).
Ian is going to draft a letter which requires signatures from local people........ will particularly affect Green Lanes, Harringay Gdns, Park Road, Fairfax and Falkland road residents

Generally these applications show up on Haringey Council's website (Access this via Local Info / Planning & Licensing), but this one's not fro some reason. There's contact info if you want to find out more.

Well I don't need it someone is organising a petition-letter in our road - but it might be useful to publish it for anyone else in the other roads which could be affected...

Not familiar with the Ol' Cappan's, but I actually miss the other restaurants not being open late. The road feels much lonelier, and at times intimidating without them when wandering back from the Salisbury late at night.

Spoke to Ian today who let me know that following a petition from the residents in Harringay Gardens, Falkland and Fairfax, the council approached the owners to modify their application.
This they did and will now restrict themselves to midnight and 2am on special occasions. They have also agreed not to use their outdoor space after midnight.
This is a good outcome as the residents were able to negotiate directly and amicably with the owners who made the modified proposals themselves.
