Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anyone know what caused Green Lanes to be cordoned off in the early hours of this morning?

Buses were on a huge diversion and the road was cordoned off.

There was a bad car crash earlier in the evening  cant tell you more than that . Given how people drive along there I am surprised there aren't more!

I had just had that conversation with a friend earlier that evening that that stretch is terrifying

I walked down from Turnpike Lane last night at about 12:30am and it appeared that two cars had been in a head on collision and gone into a third at the Alfoxton Avenue junction.  There was what looked like a wedding party standing on the pavement and a man who seemed drunk arguing with the Police next to one of the cars.  Lots of blue lights including ambulances.  No traffic was being allowed through.

Yes, I think that looks like the one in the video I linked to earlier, above.

Super car racing on Green Lanes has been going on for 2 years, at least. It’s a matter of time for something like this to happen.

I'm unclear why it isn't possible to just put in loads of speed cameras around the area (including St Anne's Road) - given that speeding is both illegal and dangerous?

Yesssss - I live on St Ann's so I wrote to the council as soon as I moved in to ask about that. They would make a killing! It says it's 20km/hr on St Ann's Road... Neverrrrr have I everrrr seen cars doing that unless they're stuck in traffic trying to get up on to Green Lanes! And, with Woodlands Nursery around the corner, a corner crossing and Chestnuts Primary all around there... you would think it would also help safety concerns around that area too!
