Are there any good sourdough bakeries in the area? I know of one in Hackney but would love to find something closer to home.
It's weird, I wonder if maybe the loaves were mislabed. It wasn't bad at all, it just didn't taste like sourdough to me.
Blighty in t'nam does
The Intrepid Fork does, in Hornsey, next to Tesco https://theintrepidfork.co.uk/
Benita's in Wood Green High St (opposite Tesco local) sells sourdough but I'm no expert on this type of bread so can't comment, other than to say it's edible...
On the same theme - I bake sourdough but would like a second opinion on it. Genuine, kind but critical feedback. Anyone interested? I’m in Roseberry Gardens. I bake big loaves so could give you a half a loaf to try. It does take quite a while to make so I could only have a couple of discerning tasters...
I’m on maternity leave at the mo so more flexible during the day, but in most nights too.
Yes! My wife and I also make sourdough so would be happy to provide an opinion
I've never thought much of Dunn's bread but in view of the praise given here to the sourdough I thought I'd give it a try - they have 2 - a 'Crouch End Sourdough' with mixed grains and a more ordinary white one. I tried the latter and thought it very ordinary indeed. Strangely similar yet perhaps marginally inferior to Waitrose sourdough. I quite like Dunns bagels and some of their cakes but I have no real faith in them despite their reputation as an old-fashioned, traditional bakery. They do have the admirable habit of listing all ingredients on the packaging of their small baked goods but you can draw your own conclusions from the ingredients used.
