Highgate up in Arms at Plans for Archway Bridge Security Fencing

The Highgate Society has made a strong protest against plans to add visually domineering security fencing to Archway's "Suicide Bridge"

The proposed design would destroy the enjoyment for thousands who traverse the bridge every day who instead of being able to contemplate one of the best views of central London, would have to walk past an oppressive and ugly

The planning application concerning the fence was decided last September.  See decision notice dated 17.09.2018 -

The Highgate Society has submitted design changes and the consultation on these ends on 20 March.

Thanks for the clarification. 

The Highgate Society solution seems provenly effective, less obtrusive and cheaper.  The one put forward in the original application looks like something left over from a low security prison and costs more.  Bit of a no brainier!

Agreed. 

But what council *wouldn’t* approve the uglier, more expensive, aesthetically less appealing solution that the community hates these days? Isn’t that the first duty of a 21st century council?
