For the full on experience try a walk parallel to the east side of the High Street along Bury Road, Noel Park Road, Pelham Road then Gladstone Mews (brings you out by the Metro Bank). Delightfully decorated with full bottles of Über driver piss, used condoms, discarded crack pipes and nitrous oxide phials, industrial scale fly tipping and, on one memorable occasion, a large bin bag of animal bones and meat. Why the poor folk who live along there haven’t risen in revolt mystifies me.

Sadly Wood Green has become a complete cesspit. I actually feel very depressed when I have to pass through it. No longer a shopping destination. The streets dirty and unkept. Full of cafes mainly with shady characters. Too many Turkish locantas. (I am a Turk). Sense of community has been diminished. I believe this is wholly due to the Haringey's mismanagement and own infighting. The local MP and the numerous councillors are ineffective. I could go on and on..... The local residents have no voice because in my view they are not 'well heeled'. I doubt their concerns if raised are taken seriously at all.

A sad state of affairs, and look like it will be getting worse before it gets better. I heard a rumour about Westfield being interested, but I think it was wishful thinking. Westfield is quite an iodine experience but I would far prefer that then Haringey borough running Wood Green high street into the ground. The Pound stores and pile em he go sell them cheap shops are bad, but I've now heard the auction guys selling boxes of perfume. You know things are bad when those con artists are in town. Does make me wonder what trading standards are doing? Let me guess, government cut backs have decimated that department etc etc ............
