What does that place do to help Haringeys recovery/homeless services? They'd rather chuck the waste in the bin. Should be a moral law against it. They could drop cakes (ummm caaaake :-) and bread off at chestnuts park thenHRS Haringey recovery services (st mungos in particular could come get some for "groups" plus for clients to take home (those who have homes!) Rude people. Or is that just to people of colour. Wouldn't catch me in there mate!

Seems odd to pick on this business. Have the charities you mention been refused by them?
Do other businesses on Green Lanes do what you ask? Does the local Tesco or Iceland send it’s food to local homeless charities?
The issue of food waste and food poverty is important but one shop alone surely can’t be singled out for its policy unless it was the only one in the neighbourhood not donating.
Sticking up for your manor. I respect that. Its my manor too though I no longer live there.(my mum still does since 1967) I have my reasons for mentioning them (trust me) but you're right I shouldn't of singled them out coz NONE of the business on that strip do! Re the big corps you mentioned Tottenham Sainsburys gives us loads of food and a smashing Christmas dinner In the lovey mencap building opposite) organized by BUBIC (bringing unity back into the community) many shops in the borough help us. Some silently (of special interest crouch end. Shhh) yasir halim is a big independent player that could do more to help the vulnerable in our community. yes they all could definitely but how many of them THROW AWAY BREAD!!! Ok liz would you allow that to happen if you owned that business? Well why you defending them then? ""The issue of food waste and food poverty blah blah blah. Have You any experience in this field liz? You do? Then you'll understand the frustrations. Its politically correct to pretend to care that's why caring is so popular.
As a matter of fact I do, Keats, although my connection with the particular charity is now at an end and I know that its up to the charities to make contact with local businesses and talk to them about their waste policies and how they can help. Large stores have a national waste food policy (although not without some pressure from campaigners) so it would come as no surprise that your local Sainsbury's donates as they have no doubt set up the connection. It may be that our local supermarkets do the same, I don't know.
Many of the shops on Green Lanes donate to local school fairs either goods or, in the case of restaurants, meals to be raffled off. Yasir's donate bread to local schools for their food stalls. Some are less keen than others perhaps but then I don't know what business is like on GL at the moment. A fair number of businesses have quietly closed over the holiday period so maybe times are harder than we know. I have no desire to defend YasirH in particular as it may be that their waste food policy is poor but I don't imagine its any worse than say Turkish Food Market or Dostler (unless anyone knows differently). Perhaps retailer should be compelled by law as in France although that is not without its drawbacks
I have never owned a business, food or otherwise, I have no idea of the pressures involved. I would hope that I have a policy that ensures food waste wasn't thrown away by using Olio for example but I haven't walked in those particular shoes Keats, have you?
I stopped reading at "policies.
I find it helps me get tru. Whilst im here "haynes" remember them ? (Car owners manual) They have a great book out now . VINYL. If you've got a turntable you'll like this book. It's on sale in wood green £6. ,just saying.
