Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This summer fellow HOL member Andy posted on here about an unusual visitor knocking on his door late at night, looking for help, maybe a quick fix, something to eat, somewhere to rest ....

Andy, I think it's fair to say, became smitten and the little visitor continued to return.

It turns out the hedgehog is the nation’s favourite animal according to Hugh Warwick – the author and ecologist who also acts as a spokesperson for the British Hedgehog Preservation Society.

Hugh has started a petition on change.org petition calling on Housing and Planning Minister Kit Malthouse to make the integration of hedgehog highways compulsory in all new build housing developments.

It has only been live a few days and has already gone through the hedge and upwards; > 200,000.

The more signatures the better! https://www.change.org/p/help-save-britain-s-hedgehogs-with-hedgeho...

Hedgy, as Andy named his little visitor, on it's summer visit in Harringay ...

And - it can't be said too often - do NOT feed them milk. They can die.

Clean water is fine.

Thanks Matt. I haven't seen Hedgey for a week or two now but have continued to leave out food, which has always gone.. Here's another couple of pictures of the little critter.IMG_1497.JPGIMG_1577%20%282%29.JPG

Hey, it comes into your house! Great to hear that it has been around so many weeks. Maybe it's found a partner :)

Don't forget to sign that petition, if you haven't already ...

Signed

Great to hear they are still around. I remember a friend getting them in her garden just off Turnpike Lane - and Stag Beetles - but that was back in the early 1990s.
