Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi folks,

Looking for a new front door for our mid-ladder house.  Interested in leaded glass and probably some secondary glazing to keep the cold at bay.  Anyone got any recommendations?  I've got a quote from the London Door Company but it made my eyes water a little.

Cheers,

Matt

Hi there,

I don't know the name or number, but there is a massive reclamation yard on Southgate road just north of Downham Rd Hackney, entrance track next door to a tyre place. They may have the door you want. I have the  number of someone who will do stained glass and do a good job, give me a call when you are at that stage, 07879446571. Good Luck

Dom

I'm interested too in getting a new Victorian style front door. The two quotes I've had up to now have been between £2000-2400 which was rather a lot more than I anticipated. That was for a custom made door hough. I wonder does anyone know of any door companies or local joiners who would be able to fit an off-the-shelf hardwood door, replace the frame and put in a new window above it? Presumably this should work out cheaper, or is there really not much in it?

Yeah, that's the ballpark I'm getting as well Paul.  Thanks for the links and tagging all.  Time to get researching.

I'll be very interested to hear what you find.

Nice glass.  I'll be in touch.

Had the neighbourhood door my neighbour threw out restored by Stoneage reclaim in Crews Hill Enfield

Designed the glass pattern myself by looking at the neighbourhood door and had Navim (also based in Stoneage Reclaim) do the coloured glass for me He also reinforced it with safety/security glass. It wasn't cheaper but less tahn quotes from London Door Co and the likes.

Thread resurrection - any recommendations for a new Victorian style door - in particular a local joiner to build a door.  I know it won't be cheap but any recommendations appreciated

Thanks Mavic
