The Americans have arrived.
9 Opreys flew over Harringay lunch time towards central London, with a number of them then circling Harringay low for about 20 mins. Strange site. Guess they heard all our councillors and Lammy signed a statement against the Trump visit

They seem to be very low so would have had special permission to invade our air space and behave in this raher threatening way. Surely it should be BRITISH forces doing the security not aliens?
PS - Rare chance to see Ospreys (of either type!)

The Americans trust no one when it comes to security of their President. Yes they would obv have special permission but flying so low does seem unnecessary.

www.forces.net, which seems to be the British Forces Broadcasting website, suggests they're based at RAF Mildenhall - only just up the road, in flying terms - and support the 352d Special Operations Wing. It's responsible for "infiltration, extraction and resupply operations in hostile territories", so maybe that's how the US now sees the UK, in light of Brexit and Trump's views on the White Paper?

All I can say is goodbye and good riddance. Can’t understand why they had to circle over the top of us for so long both yesterday and the day before
its only today my 2 cats have appeared from under the bed.

I suspect that it's easier to keep them stable flying forward than trying to hover.
