Apparently someone was stabbed to death near Turnpike Lane station last night... terrible news.

i really think the government needs to be held accountable for the drastic increase in crime in london and the rest of the country. This is the result of years of cuts to our services through ‘austerity’ measures. Surely enough is enough, we need investment in schools, police and health services.

I am not at all a fan of D Lammy. From my observation, he just 'weather vanes'. And his 'Out of the Riots' was quite vapidly lacking for Tottenham. He didn't come out against the destructive 'regeneration' of White Hart Lane/Tottenham, nor the stupid Wards Corner plan @ Seven Sisters WHEN IT COUNTED. He sat on the fence and was quite dismissive of those with a different VISION for the community. Once the wind changed he seemed to change too. Sigh!
But the points he may be referring to ....racial bias in how the 'drug situation' is perceived depending on who is doing the looking....for example here is a selection of links from a very quick search....

I do feel that things are on the slide again in Harringay, quite recently. We get groups of dealers regularly on our street, hanging out in in broad daylight quite openly selling stuff. I will report to safer neighbourhood team, but I miss the days when you could call Glyn Kelly on his mobile and something would happen almost immediately.
... Glyn was old school... he came from a Durham mining town and was part of the community... God bless him... I hope he enjoys his retirement... he deserves to...
If there is a demand someone will supply it. Other countries have decriminalized the less dangerous drugs and the heavens have not yet fallen. Our recent governments have received evidence-based advice from their own scientists on their Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, which they then chose to totally ignore for fear of the likes of Paul Dacre. So it will get worse ....
For instance, the Chair of that council, a Professor, pointed out that statistically more people died from horse-riding than ecstacy. He was forced to resign.
Individuals are responsible for their actions.
According to the LCSP (Ladder Community Safety Partnership) a Neighbourhood Watch group covering the ladder area, .... the police have charged Bilal Mumin, of Finchley Road, NW3 with the murder of Edmond Jonuzi in the Duckett’s Common/Turnpike Lane area on Saturday, 9 June. He was due to appear in custody at Highbury Magistrates’ Court yesterday, 19 June. Police enquiries continue.
It made the Guardian - Bilal Mumin is 19.
I didn't know Edmond was an Albanian name too.
