Anyone know why there was a car on its side across the northbound Wightman carriageway near Turnpike Lane mid Tues pm?
Its not what you normally expect to see, but there were no other vehicles nearby, just a copper forlornly sweeping up debris. It did not look like anyone was hurt, but I cannot imagine how a vehicle finds itself in that position without doing something that involved speed?

No idea how it happened. Car didn't seem dented. Lampost nearby didn't look impacted. Very strange.
Cars can be surprisingly unstable. Come round a corner a bit fast, clip the kerb and over you go.
Here's another upturned car - in Cranleigh Rd last Tuesday morning, after it had been speeding up the road and clipped a parked car. Driver and passengers just got out unscathed, though still clearly very drunk, but legged it when they heard the ambulance siren - tho' not before they'd extracted the remaining bottles of booze. They left their crack pipe in the car however.
This one happened on Wightman a few years ago. Car came screaming out of the garage that used to be there, skidded across the road, hit the kerb and rolled. The man driving had either stolen it while the owner was paying for petrol or didn't want to pay for the petrol he had just taken on board. Either way, it seemed to go over very easily.
