What a heartsink - mine have died but after a long life and I have never bought an oven before. I called a local firm (recommended) to diagnose it but having been and pronounced it dead they said they would send recommendations and never have despite several emails. Advice welcome! A friend has suggested Black Friday bargains but am wary of buying online and not seeing the goods.

You could have a look at PC World / Currys at Tottenham Hale retail park who have lots of Kitchen appliances. Apparently their Black Friday discounts have started already.
Thanks for that, John...
John Lewis is also having a 'black friday' sale so its worth doing an internet search of all the usual outlets. I bought mine a year ago from John Lewis and delivery was rapid however to have the service where its fitted at the time of delivery was a long wait and a £70 + fee, I found it better just to get it delivered asap and got a local electrician to fit which was quicker and cheaper.
I went to the showrooms first and did some homework on size, make, model etc beforehand, and viewed the models that they were offering in the sale, then ordered online.

What’s happening? The electrical goods chain has been running “why wait” deals on 13 November.
Where? Online promotions can be found here.
What? Deals include a Google Home device for £79 and an AEG Electric Steambake oven for £429.99. The Why Wait promotion includes 10% of all washing machines, with code WASH10.
What’s happening? The department store will kick off its own Black Friday deals from 00.01 on 24 November. Because of its “never knowingly undersold” promise it will be price-matching some competitors throughout the period.
Where? Online promotions can be found here.
What? Electrical products, technology, fashion and items for the home.

However if you go online at the moment John Lewis already have oven deals.
Many thanks, Maggie! So can most electricians such an item or is it a specialised job, do you know? I realise I am trying to get this done without spending ages researching/travelling but that might be a bit optimistic of me....
Hi Roslyn, it seemed very straight forward particularly if the wiring is in place. I used Ed Gravett tel:07903 324438 who was very pleasant and efficient and recommended on HoL.
Many thanks, Maggie....
I got mine on AO online - they have lots of helpful advice- even so I managed to order one that didn't fit, and they were fine about taking it away and replacing it with one that did
Thanks, Betty... my neighbour friend suggested them (not heard of them previously)... just don't feel very confident about ordering something I cannot see first. do they also install them?
They do install them but you have to pay. I actually got Ed (as recommended above ) to do mine.
I would not buy from Curry's should you want to have it installed by them. I bought an appliance and paid a fee to have it installed. The delivery did not happen as agreed. The installation was a shambles and am still waiting for a reply to my complaint for poor service and having incurred additional costs.
Why not try call Top Discount in Palmers Green
https://www.top-discount.co.uk/collections/cooking
and check if they would install it? They seem to have good prices and good service.
Thanks for this, Lu....
Thanks for all this - it's slightly all doing my head in... . Have asked Top Discount some questions and see they don't seem to offer Black Friday deals (though the I paper today said these are often misleading because products are often marked down below BF prices at different times of the year so could prove a false deadline to try and meet). Website says they install. Also need to know (as AO gave a mixed message) whether they also extract the old one and dispose of it responsibly (realise that costs more).
