Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I remember going on a mushroom identification walk a few years ago at Railway Fields. Does anyone know if they are planning one this year?

If you mean the yearly LNHS/LWT Fungus Foray, details are here:

October 29th and don't cock up with the clocks (it is the day after the change)

Many thanks for the two links, Chris. However, the Facebook event shows 'Northwood Hills' tube station as the nearest!!! Can you change it? - although us locals will know Manor House / Railway Fields.

They grow everywhere Alan. They do have a resemblance to Fly Agaric (not good) so be careful what you pick.
There are also tons of fantastic edible mushroom now as it's peak season. Best to go out with a chum from a country where autumn mushroom hunting is a national pursuit and they know what's what.

Fancy taking me foraging sometime Michael?

Give me time to find a chaperone Andy and then we’ll set a date

They look nothing like fly agarics! They are tiny and brown, not big and red...

Which is why I do t go mushroom hunting alone,

This looks fun. Do you have to be a member to join the walk? or can anyone just show up?  I don't see a way to book on the website.

Anyone can just show up. Don't panic when someone asks you if you are a member, they just want to give you a leaflet if you're not. The LNHS is the best bargain going if you are interested in nature, £20 per year and you get 6 magazines, 2 books and free walks most weekends.
