Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Owners of Proposed Triple Restaurant in former Fairline/Class A Premises Finally Come Clean

The owners of the almost complete new restaurant in the former Fairline/Class A premises have been pretending for the last year or so that their project was anything but a new restaurant. They even had their agent come on HoL to protest their innocence with regard to any such move.

Of course anyone with half a mind didn't believe them for a moment and they've now finally come clean and have applied for retrospective planning permission.

There are very sound grounds for objection to this development given in Haringey's planning policy and one hopes that the Council will make proper and fair use of these in making their planning determination.

Local objections, particularly those that can be linked to policy are taken into account and do make a difference. Any resident can object. I am attaching a copy of the LCSP's objection which makes clear which policies can be referenced for your objection.

If you'd like to object, or support, the application, you can do so via the planning pages of Haringey's website here, using the "Comment on Application" button towards the bottom of the page. (EDIT: I made a comment essentially just supporting the LCSP's statement in its entirety).

I concur with R, and I love Turkish food.  However there's only so much business to go round, none of which seems to be aimed at anyone who lives in and around Haringay/ Finsbury Park.  Each new restaraunt that appears is more garish than the one before, completely out of step with what's happening in the general vicinity.  Almost as if the proprietorsy don't care for local customers business

WHOA

But it's beautiful, and it took so long to put together! What a shame if the new proprietors don't make the most of that.

On a related note as you raised Tramp - we're all keen to see more variety, but on the five occasions I dined in Tramp, there was never more than one other table taken. Are we putting our wallets where our mouths are?

I am impressed you made it to 5.

I got the impression their chef changed a number of times (perhaps they died of boredom), but the food was always pleasant. The space was/is very atmospheric, and different to the Green Lanes norm, that's the main reason we were keen to support it I suppose.

Great, I can't wait...has anyone managed to get a photo of the sign in the window? I keep going past it on the bus in a bit of a rush!

Yes, here it is - they do say

"menu based on fish and the new kebab bar with original recipes"

so that may not mean a full Turkish makeover as stated in posts above.

I've emailed them, I'll post any answer, they may well be away at the moment.

Now open again, much as before, no kebab bar yet, and not a Turkish menu either - see here for more   http://www.harringayonline.com/forum/topics/cafe-tramp-now-serving-...

LOVE Le Mercury.

And kebab bar sounds awful

Le Mercury is one of my favourite London restaurants, how amazing would it be to have something like that or Little Bay which used to be in Farringdon.

'hipster style' as in 'good'? can we just call them 'good' instead?

Probably best to stick to having polite positive conversation that helps improve our community and area rather than troll other peoples use of language or ideas.

But for your information....

Main definitions of hipster in English:

NOUN

informal
*
A person who follows the latest trends and fashions, especially those regarded as being outside the cultural mainstream.

Example sentences

Origin
1940s (used originally as an equivalent term to hepcat): from hip + -ster.

Hope that helps
