Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I have a vintage Yamaha guitar (FG-150 I think) which hasn't been used for years and needs a bit of fettling. Looking for someone in the ladder/gardens area who can do a proper job.

Not sure if you were thinking of paying someone but I got the bridge of an acoustic guitar fixed and the guitar re-strung at Music & Beans on Green Lanes.  Seemed very reasonably priced but I don't actually know what would have been reasonable and I can't remember how much (helpful).

Thanks Natalie - yes, I'd pay someone to do it and I did ask at Music & Beans but the person I spoke to didn't think they could help. I'll try again though.

Oh ok. I think I spoke to the owner but it didn't seem a big deal. Good luck!

There used to be a great guitar shop in Crouch End who gussied up my acoustic Yamaha (and told me it was worth a few hundred quid these days!!) but they've gone the way of most useful local businesses now....You could try Bridgewood and Neizert, the violin shop in Stoke Newington Church st, they might either be able to help or give you details of someone who can.

If the guitar is in need of luthier intervention, there is a good likelihood that the work required will cost more than the value of the instrument. If it just needs strings and cleaning, adding a string peg or two, or a tuner or two, meet me at the pub and I'll get it going for you in a few minutes.

Thanks - have given a bit more thought and decided to sell it as is. Kind offer though.

I think our nearest guitar repairman is http://www.wildguitars.com/ near Highgate tube if you change your mind. It's a few years since I needed to use them but they did good work for me in the past.
