anes). LBH have accepted that, although Tree Preservation orders were in place, incorrect information was relayed both to BDC and the tree surgeons. Record-keeping procedures etc are now being thoroughly overhauled. Meanwhile, the new owners of the land are consulting with LBH tree officers with a view to planting new large-growing trees, such as ash or London plane."My reading of that is that there should have been discussion about planting new trees - but 'consulting' doesn't mean doing does it! I don't think (but couldn't swear hand on heart) that any ever did get planted - anyone else know for sure?

worried about the effect of the roots on their homes.
I and other neighbours have tried to contact the council for months about getting it cut back. couldn't get through and emails were not answered. The tree hasn't been maintained for years.
I'm heartbroken. It seems there's nothing I can do now to save this beautiful old tree that gives so much character to our road.
I don't know how much this is related to council cuts- are tree services reduced across the borough?
I write this just to say please do look out for your trees and pressure the council to maintain them - maybe you'll be able to save trees in your road from being cut down.

aste has accumulated over the years at the end of the garden and base of the tree. A lot of this waste looks very dry and combustible - wood, etc. The tree itself is also poorly managed with lots of dry/ dead sections and probably needs a good prune from a tree surgeon. I am concerned that the household waste and the tree could go up in flames in the hot weather with BBQs etc. I did seek advice from the tree officer at Haringey in the last few years, but was told it was a private issue.
This tree is so large that if it did go up in flames, it could affect several homes on our street. I am concerned for my own property and other residents, some of whom are vulnerable and could suffer as a consequence either tragically by fire spreading to their homes or financially if they don't have insurance, etc.
Any advice would be appreciated.…
u had training. Each has a different growing pattern, some grow very slowly, some very quickly. to say that 'trees are dangerous' is a ridiculous idea. It's true that some trees, Beech, for instance have a reputation (for dropping branches without warning). Bushcrafters and woodsman/women will look around to make sure they are not camping under a Beech tree so that particular tree is in fact a hazzard when camping because you're underneath it for a prolonged period. Are trees more dangerous than flower pots ? No. Are we going to start worrying about walking near buildings ? I hope not.
The Arborists (tree surgeons) that work for our council will certainly know what they are doing and would be in a lot of trouble if they didn't, so don't worry whether they are allowing trees to be 'dangerous' because you can be sure that if any tree were a hazzard, they would be chopped/removed immediately without any emotion (except protected trees).…
2 doors from our house in Rutland Gardens. I haven't seen any tree sugeons around this year and was wondering if anyone knows of a pile nearby or knows a tree sugeon? (I don't use/like the sold some from Homebase as I just like the woodland look. ).
Any help would be great,
Thanks,
Sonya…
banharvest folks nearby to come with a net and shake off fruit every year to spread the bounty around.
That might help the new buyer come to the right decision?…
legislation brought in a few years back, you can obtain necessary forms from the council, and they have a duty to investigate. They carry out complicated calculations regarding height, scale of light disturbance etc. It costs around £350 to set this in motion. I won and the trees had to be cut down to a reasonable height. Contact Haringey planning.
You are also within your legal rights to cut down any overhang into your garden. However, you have to be careful with big trees as lopping branches from one side can make the tree 'unbalanced', which could result in it falling down - onto yours or someone else's house. Get a tree surgeon to have a look, and give a quote.…
when back - clearly not accepted the messages! Apologies both.
Firstly there are still small trees outside on the front path - a tree surgeon friend tells me I was misleading people they are NOT sycamores but a) a small ash tree and b) a small horse chestnut - both in need of loving care - please collect!! ALSO a small bag - but more to come when sort out of wood is available on the front path of chunks of old fencing/bits of chopped floorboard useful for fire/pit/open fire etc. Please take and another couple of bags will come out on the path too soon! …
