Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Would anyone be willing to rent me their motorhome/camper van for a few days or a week?

Due to a total lack of school holiday club provision for the last 2 weeks of the summer holidays I made a commitment (silly of me) that I would take my son on a road trip by campervan/motorhome..... then I looked into the costs/availability and realised I should have done my homework first! Would anyone be prepared to hire me their motorhome or camper van for a few days or a week after the August Bank Holiday weekend? Happy to pay a reasonable daily hire rate and I would obviously pay for fully comprehensive insurance and then leave a deposit for the excess and would treat your property with the utmost respect.

There's nothing here yet for those dates, but it might be worth keeping an eye here in case anything comes up - http://www.spaceshipsrentals.co.uk/current-deals/relocation-deals/
Thanks for the link. Much better than the sites I found myself on Google. I'd also never seen their basic pod-mobiles (for want of a better word!)

I rented one of the basic ones a few months ago and found it too basic, essentially a mobile bed, and the bedding supplied was whiffy to say the least. Whatever you get make sure it has a loo! and it is nice to have some space to sit other than the driver or passenger seats.

What about a tent? You can pick one up fairly cheaply on ebay or even Halfords or Tesco's do them quite cheaply these days. Then all you need is a little gas stove and a kettle and a couple of pans. Maybe a cheap tarp for if it rains.

Unfortunately my pampered son is expecting something akin to the RV he saw in an episode of Frasier recently (when Daphne and Nials elope - hilarious if you get the chance to see it) which was more like an apartment on wheels! I tried to manage his expectations down by showing him a VW Camper van parked on the street. I think if he can't have his holiday home on wheels I'll have welched on my deal and no canvas alternative will do! I blame the parents...
If it were mobile that would have been lovely...

It is mobile - at £200 a night :-O

You can get a pretty decent hotel for that money... and therein lies my problem!

These guys do cheap, basic campers with everything you need. Literally everything - bedding, kitchen equipment, plates etc as well.

We hired a version with a roof tent for a festival. Would the fun of sleeping on top of the car make up for  the un-glamness of the basic vehicle?

I think he'd love it! I, on the other hand, would be too terrified to cave the roof in! It does look like a giggle...thanks

there's another bed in the car itself, so you could always have him on top and you below....

I think we paid about £275 for Thursday to Monday.

There are blackboard paint panels on the front and back and it comes with a few sticks of chalk to personalise your temporary ownership :)

Perfect! That's exactly what I was secretly hoping for! I've accepted your connection request...xx
