Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Is there anyone else here who works from home and would like to escape the house occasionally for lunch?

I'm thinking of a regular "Home workers networking lunch" (so it feels a bit like real work and not just sloping off to the pub) say once a fortnight or so, at some suitable local venue.

If there's interest then I'll sort out a time and place for the first one.

UPDATE:

Since there's evident interest, I've suggested a first lunch for November 30th - details here: http://www.harringayonline.com/events/harringay-homeworkers-lunch

UPDATE 2: I must need to get out of the house more often - the Garden Ladder no longer opens for lunch. Venue suggestions welcome!

UPDATE 3: Thanks for the venue suggestions, I've booked a table at Cafe Mezzo (see the event listing for details). Looking forward to meeting you all on Monday

Sounds like a great idea Malcolm. Let's see if we can get interest from a good group.

I've emailed you please ad me to your invite list.

Now I dont have a 'proper job' whatever one of those is, I am basically working from home. At least that is my story... so I may be interested. The Ally Pally meeting place sounds very nice and perhaps we could hook up with that. Be interested to talk to Storky, about websites etc. But maybe now I am moving beyond lunch to networking... sorry!
I don't work from home, but have every Friday off so would be interested in doing something that day of the week.
Yep, I'd probably be interested in both a harringay meet up, and also Storky's group (do feel free to get in touch Storky)

Professionally - London based publishing representative working from home
Creatively - another aspiring writer (yawn)

Cheers all, and nice idea Malcolm

Nice idea. I'm freelance and would be up for a local lunch every so often. Local to Green Lanes I'm thinking - not necessarily Ally Pally!
yes, that sounds great. I came across a woman from Crouch End compiling a list, and another from Muswell hill thinkii ng along the same lines.
I'm new to Harringay (indeed, new to London), and I'm working from home (full time through the middle of next month, part time starting in January)--so this definitely interests me.

I'm another publishing person, fwiw. (Subset: books, editorial.)
can't believe there are other people who are actually thinking of this - I thought I was the only loony, looking for ways to escape.

in short, yes, I am interested:)

I'm not a creative type, but work with (or in) food, so am happy to suggest eating places;)
I'm interested Malcolm, I work at home around two floating days a week, so would only attend occasionally. Best Wishes. Gerry
Super - looks like there's enough interest to make this a go-er

How about the first one on Monday 30th November, at 13:00 in the Garden Ladder Pub? Event created here - http://www.harringayonline.com/events/harringay-homeworkers-lunch - RSVP if you can make it

I've picked Mondays just because - if there's a strong consensus for a different date then let's move it. Likewise for the venue.

After the first one we can think about whether the experiment is worth repeating and how frequently!
I'm keen too. Can't make the first lunch, but hope to make it along next time if it's a success.

(I'm an academic - I teach a few days a week during term-time, and work on research from home the rest of the time...)
