Does anyone know how long the " upgrading " of the traffic lights at the north end of Wightman will last ? It seems to have been going on weeks already with the consquent delays and nose-to tail traffic extending as far as the bottom of Endymion. I didn't see anything wrong with the traffic light phasing as it was.

It's miserable isn't it? Google maps did say work ends on the 29th March, but I've just looked and now it says the 18th March. I haven't checked on the Haringey scheduled road work map though - just checked and it says the 29th on the planned roadworks search thingy.
There are also southbound queues on Wightman+Alroy+Endymion for sewer works until 13th April. There are three-way traffic lights [=extra delay] at the junction of Endymion Rd/Upper Tollington Park/Oakfield Rd [the right turn just past the bridge, southbound]. We're not out of the woods yet...
John D - there were yellow pavement signs giving the work dates about ten days ago. From your eyrie, and 'wiv a ladder and some glasses' ...?
The signs seem to have disappeared. Maybe that's a good omen. But,I wouldn't be able to read them from here because of the Saharan sand on my windows :-)
Indeed: the sky seemed to be delivering dilute chicken broth onto the car windscreen on the way back from a rainy north Kent today :-)
Ah, you solved a mystery for me. When I got in out of the rain today my jacket was splashed with muck even though I hadn’t been anywhere mucky.
But, the temporary traffic lights are still there and there is no sign of the poles for the permanent ones. Could be a while yet.
I can’t remember the details, but these lights came up during all the discussions about traffic previously. They needed to be upgraded, but I can’t remember why. I hope the fact that they’re spending money to control traffic at this junction when they’re supposed to be about to stem its flow isn’t a worrying sign.
Does anyone know how we report the problem on Raleigh Road (which is the last ladder road that you can turn right onto Wightman road) caused by the temproary lights? There is traffic backed up the road from the top to past the Harringay passage, sometimes down to the bottom of the road for 12 hours a day over the last 2 weeks. This is blasting the residents with lovely doses of carbon monoxide and causing noise pollution. Drivers are continuously beeping their horns, sometimes the whole queue seems to be getting into the act of doing so in unison, along with getting out their cars and shouting. The noise from beeping horns is now becoming completely unbearable.
Would you suggest that the bulk of this traffic comprises of "rat-Runners" not patient enough to use the Willoughby Road exit onto Turnpike Lane, or the residents of Raleigh Road? Nonetheless you have my sympathy as this could have been avoided by a foresighted local authority traffic & highways department that knows full well that any highway maintenance across the Ladder always results in congestion not very far away.
In terms of action, I'd recommend contacting your local councillors in the first instance.
Indeed, this traffic is avoiding lights on Turnpike Lane. It is also an offence to sound your horn from your car while stationary (rule 112 I believe). Call the police.
This was raised at the transport meeting mentioned in this post here

This was a meeting with transport officers from Haringey and councillors. A resident of Raleigh Road spoke about this for quite a long time and the Haringey people said they would look into it.
