I guess it needs a repositioning of the pedestrian crossing so that moterists see and act on a traffic light associated with the crossing.

Nothing to add by way of knowledge gleaned apart from the fact that the new road bridge will be flattened to make safer for pedestrians and cyclists (so the Network Rail guy said), and that Stuart McNamara is a cycling enthusiast both of which you probably all know already. Lovely to meet and put faces to names - Antoinette, Hugh, John, Justin and Souvarine.

Watching the traffic lights at the top of Wightman last night, For turning right into Wightman (which is obviously closed) from Crouch End you get 20 seconds of green light. For going straight ahead, you get 11 seconds. I really don't think they've done much tuning of the traffic lights at all and there is definitely scope there to tune it a little more. A lot of the traffic on Turnpike Lane/Hornsey High Street is just east/west and just needs more opportunity to get across. Many more vehicles will get through on a longer phase than two phases that total the same because they all get up to speed.

I was told on Wightmageddon Day 1 by one of the traffic marshals that the traffic light controller box at that junction is old and due for replacement by TfL. Apparently, until it is replaced, the tuning functionality is severely limited.

Well that is the cause of the ire we're getting from Crouch End/Muesli Hill. There's nothing stopping them putting in temporary lights.
