Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This may not be news to you but not only are Ladder roads affected and Turnpike Lane but the whole of Hornsey Park road is blocked from the junction to Mayes road and beyond. So i turned around and went through Ally Pally to get to Hornsey and the whole of High Street and Priory Road to bottom of Muswell Hill is at a standstill. God knows what rush hour will be like each day and once kids back at school.

That's my rant for the day over.

I've never seen a traffic jam in cecile park before - interesting

Yeah, it was fascinating. I wonder whether I'll get to experience one every weekday evening from now until the end of August?

It took my friend 2 hours to get from Crouch End back up to Palmers Green.... I spoke to people at bus stop in CE who had no idea about Wightman closure either. Older people mostly who don't drive and probably just didn't realise road closure would affect all the buses in the area....

I could walk it back to where I live just off Green Lanes but as I said before, not everyone has option of walking esp for longer journeys and the weather was vile.

I also am not convinced things will get better after today as where will the traffic disperse to? Buses were being terminated early as they were running so far behind schedule etc.

Let's see what tomorrow brings folks.

It was somewhat busier traffic wise from about mid-day.  But it only lasted an hour, maybe two (this is Falkland Rd btw).

Normal amount of traffic for the rest of the day. But I agree, once the school holidays are over it could be a whole different story (a few schools go back next Monday, most the week after). That's a whole different thread though!

Once I eventually turned onto Green Lanes from Turnpike Lane, it was as if nothing had changed. Normal traffic flow. It was further afield – Crouch End, Muswell Hill – that the impact was worst.

I drove back from South Wales today- M4 a breeze, M25, M40, A40 all fine. But much of the North Circular pretty much a crawl, getting much worse nearer Bounds Green. I came off and went round the back of Ally Pally, with a slow crawl/stationary all the way to Hornsey Park Road...  Someones just come to our house from Crouch End, had to get off the bus and walk...

Fun times.

I'd like to know why the Harringay overground railway bridge wasn't ever made into one for cars to get across into Crouch End :)

Just been stuck in traffic for 5 hours. Yes 5 hours ...going to Holloway and back. With a new born and toddler in tow. It was hell on earth

That is terrible! are you faced with this journey every day? Once in a lifetime is enough.

My daughter goes to nursery there. Will have to use the overground from tomorrow. Until June when that closes down. Why oh why is everything happening /closing down the same time?!

That's exactly what I've been thinking. It will be practically impossible to get out of/into this area by public transport after the GO-Barking line closes down completely in Sept.

I use that line for the first part of my journey to work and it's crowded everyday during rush hours, hard to get on/off.

And it's very hard to get on tubes during rush hours as an alternative. Add tens of thousands more people after the line closure trying to get to work plus this road chaos and what will happen?

I can picture the rail replacement buses going nowhere fast.... It really is worrying all round. Have the powers that be really considered the choices or lack of, that we have?
