Cllr Hymas did indeed take the post of councillor and is now Cabinet Member for Housing
Hi D.Jones,
My name is Alan which I use. When I work on my computer I'm in a room overlooking the street outside our house.
You may have seen that I posted at least three times that I've answered my phone to hear a female voice saying it's "Emma"; an "Ai assistant", to a voluntary agency that seeks my cash donation.
If you read these posts you're probably bored to irritation by this information.
Of course Emma doesn't get bored. Emma doesn't care.
I do get irritated with the agency that bought the fake "Emma". This is because I'm a human and want, need, and enjoy contact with other humans. I've been lucky all my life to work where I meet people. Even my early job serving ina green grocers.
Is "Emma" anything more than an advanced and very sophisticated Auto-reply machine?
I will make you a confession. In the many years I was an elected as a Haringey local councillor I had email and got letters. But had no auto reply on my home landline. I've never had my own or a Council mobile.
We councillors had a system of speaking in person with residents who came to what were called "advice surgeries".
Mine were in a room at Marcus Garvey Library in Tottenham. I often shared these with another councillor; most often with former Cllr Bernice Vanier. Who was a very experienced councillor as well as being a nice person. We covered each other's absences. I enjoyed chatting with her as well as meeting residents.
I hope the Green Party will operate some face to face; person to person system like this. Sometimes residents joined the library when they came to see us. Some came with their kids. and I gave them some kid's books from the used/withdrawn/ for sale pile, While we spoke to their parent. They cou;d take them home if they wanted.
But it's still early days, isn't it? I wish the Greens well.
The address that does work (for me) is Tammy.Hymas@haringey.gov.uk .
There is a rogue figure '1' in Haringey's listed email address, it stands out against all the other councillors' address formatting.....
Probably some legacy confusion when it changed from Tommy?
I have just emailed her about it, now I've worked out the correct address. Job done, Alan!
Thanks Gordon T for emailing Cllr Hymas.
I have an old fashioned approach to telephone casework. Shaped by my dislike of and decision not to use the original brick-like mobile phones. I was once accused of failing to act on a message left by a client on my mobile. I explained that was very curious since I didn't have one.
Thanks, D. Jones
Yes indeed, the Council's website says:"To email Haringey councillors, you can contact your specific ward representatives directly using the format firstname.lastname@haringey.gov.uk.
This would entirely explain why - not using this format - would result in Cllr Hymas being unable to read and respond to your email.
It's neither accurate nor fair to say: "She doesn't reply" if she has not received to your email.
Nor is it accurate or fair to criticise her on a public website for not replying.
