The Lancatser and hurricanes went straight over Harringay on their way home. Right over the top of my house, giving me a great view from my living room window. Quite spine tinglingly nostalgic.
Did anyone else catch a peep?

So you too resisted the temptation to join the loyal crowds downtown. I saw the planes right enough as they flew north up the ladder.
Nostalgia indeed; when I was a little boy in the late 1940s we lived across the road from what is now Norwich airport which was then home to Spitfires or Hurricanes (or both, I still can't tell the difference). By the time we left the area in 1952, they had been replaced by very noisy early jets, Meteors and Vampires. No one breathing would have missed the fly past if those had been included at the same altitude.
Yes i saw them---Brilliant

I saw them on the telly and then went out in the garden to see if they came this way - .but nought. I went down to Green Park for a bit with James ... but they'd blocked off the Mall by the time we got there - rotters. Anyway James filmed the crowds and I wrote a pome - soon to be published on HoL ie both together, James's latest creative project!
What with WW2 flyovers (which always bring a tear to my eye), and the steam engines that regularly zoom through Harringay station you'd could easily be in 40's Harringay.
I just googled Harringay WW2 actually (wanted to see if it was hit) and came up with this interesting little story.
