if it is the one on endymion rd  thames water have been informed and will fix the problem within 60 days of two weeks ago.

No, its the one on Pemberton, but thanks for the tip off.

Wow, that was impressively fast, phone answered in a minute, fault reported and in hand for a look at within three days. Cheers for the tip off Tun.

This post reminds me, does anyone know what the situation is regarding the flooded section on the left hand side of Wightman Road as you're travelling north (ie the railway side, I think nearest road is Atterbury Rd).

I don't think it is a water main that causes it, I think it is a natural water source that overflows when it rains (but I may have this complely wrong). The problem is that the water can easily cover the entire left hand side of the road - which is not great for cars and vile for cyclists or pedestrians, and will be even worse if it gets colder. Does anyone know if there is anything that can be done, or have any ideas as to who could be contacted about it? I think the land is owned (or at least rented by) Jewsons - do they have any responsibility?

I was going to ask the same question, it was a mess the other day, covering the whole of the northbound side of the road. Amazing.

David Schmitz brought it up here http://www.harringayonline.com/forum/topics/flood-risks. I beleive the last post by David was a week or two ago suggesting work had been ordered...

It turned into a lake of mud after the recent heavy rain - worrying for residents across the road, who risk being flooded if it gets any worse.

Most recent update on the Wightman/Alroy leak is here.

Hugh, and others - please see my added comment on the other thread.

If, and only if, the water and mud pose an immediate and serious danger to life and limb can I suggest someone rings the Council's Out of Hours Emergency Service. 020 8348 3148.

As I write, a Thames Water operative is fixing the leak!

I assume this is the Wightman/Alroy/Cyprus Close leak, Reggie. Excellent news. Let's hope they can fix it!

But there's an interesting question. How far should people outside the circle of owners/technicians be told what's happening? Of course if the leak had been swiftly remedied, I doubt anyone would have been too interested. It's like having your boiler repaired; you just want it done quickly and efficiently by someone with the right skills.

But in cases like this it seems something has gone wrong with the reporting, investigating and fixing of a problem. With consequences - possibly serious - for anyone using Wightman Road. So would it be helpful to have some brief local release of information by either Jewsons, Haringey Council, or Thames Water?

If so, Harringay Online is one obvious channel.

I think he said it was Pemberton, Alan.
