No, I do try to clarify and add to the various arguments without coming down on either side.
"I imagine that it's quite difficult to come out publicly on an issue that is currently undergoing consultation." Why? I know that there is only one party to vote for in Haringey but where I come from at least, this is why there are primaries (we got rid of Eric Cantor via a primary--an astounding feat against an incumbent. Hopefully Paul Ryan next).
Locally, maybe along with the Wood Green shopping plan, there is no bigger local issue and councilors should make their views on such local issues very clear from the outset, so people can vote accordingly in the next election--again, this presupposes there is any ability to control who Labour puts up in the first instance as candidates since we have only a communist style one party system in Haringey.
We saw someone in the traffic discussion make big hay out of the fact that the councilors had not come out for the main proposal of filtering. If councilors are not supposed to tell us their views (again, why are they elected then) in a consultation stage, then that argument should have been made in response at the time.
There is clear support for filtering Wightman (option 4), from one of our councillors on Twitter.
