Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Veolia Refuse collection by request only?
They have made empty promises to monitor the situation but nothing changes. Recycling and food waste collections are haphazard at best, but they mostly seem to eventually be collected. Has anyone else had trouble with collections recently?

I imagine that it's quite difficult to come out publically on an issue that is currently undergoing consultation. Refuse collection is about enforcing an existing contract so a different kettle of fish.
I have noticed though, on the issue of councillors engaging on HoL, that they're damned if they do and damned if they don't.

I know that there is only one party to vote for in Haringey but where I come from at least, this is why there are primaries (we got rid of Eric Cantor via a primary--an astounding feat against an incumbent. Hopefully Paul Ryan next).
Locally, maybe along with the Wood Green shopping plan, there is no bigger local issue and councilors should make their views on such local issues very clear from the outset, so people can vote accordingly in the next election--again, this presupposes there is any ability to control who Labour puts up in the first instance as candidates since we have only a communist style one party system in Haringey.
We saw someone in the traffic discussion make big hay out of the fact that the councilors had not come out for the main proposal of filtering. If councilors are not supposed to tell us their views (again, why are they elected then) in a consultation stage, then that argument should have been made in response at the time.

This is not about voting. As councillors their primary purpose is to represent those living in their ward. As there is a broad range of views on what is the best solution it's a big ask that they come out on one side or the other (or any of the four sides in the consultation). There are issues of course where it is appropriate. The threatened closure of the post office is one for instance where I would imagine there is little or no local support for that happening.
