Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Anyone know why Veolia think it's ok to drive their lorry down the street collecting recycling at quarter to seven in the morning?

Why don't you ask Veolia ?

I can. But (a) I wanted to know what people on here thought about it and (b) the question was partly rhetorical...

Standard time for the refuse (not recycling) collection in our road is 0630. First world problem?

Not imo, no. If I wanted to be woken up at 6 or half past I'd set the alarm for that time. I think sleep deprivation is a little bit more important than you realise. Besides, if builders aren't allowed to start until 8am why should refuse collectors be?

The government agrees with you, however they think you should be awake from 6am.

6:45 would be late on our road - we have 6am and then 6.30am.

when they used to do 8am and 8.30 it caused more havoc with people trying to get to work/school runs etc.... doesn't bother me as i'm up at 6.30 for work.

OK Paulie, I see your beef and I raise you - Anyone know why Veolia think it's ok to return the recycling containers so they block entry like below?

First the green wheelie bin then 10 mins later the food waste box. To be fair, the Veolia employee who saw me taking the photo crossed the street, apologised for his colleague's (in)action and was genuinely helpful. But even so, and it's not for the first time.....

Yeah it's another first world problem, so the post person says 'access issue' and walks on by and delivers tomorrow not today, if I hadn't been around to move things here and now.

I guess it's because there are not enough staff to do the job properly in the expected time, and that they are paid too little to give a toss.

Yes. I wish more people would see that.

It always used to be the case that they'd return the bins to where they came from but in the past few years this appears to have changed and the policy is to leave them just inside the gate.

It's the green waste bags casually slung down on the path that get me - oh, but they won't be collecting them soon, so that problem will vanish...

That drives me crazy, I'm always having to retrieve mine from other parts of the road on windy days. They used to put them inside the emptied recycling bin.
