Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Umfreville Road two-way for next fortnight, blocked above Woollaston Rd

Well, that's it, really.

Sewer works, according to the letters tucked under car windscreen wipers.

No notice given, unlike the recent Thames Water work on Umfreville and Burgoyne.

Woollaston Road has not been made two-way (i.e. no black bags over the No Entry signs). But I'd be careful out there, people.

Thanks for update - the signs at Green Lanes/Umfreville junction still say "two way trafic" (no that's not MY typo!) even though it's no longer needed now Woollaston is two-way.

But then, I get quite used to cyclists whizzing down Umfreville the wrong way in normal circumstances.....

Interesting idea Maria.  I live on Warham and much of our traffic is not local. Vehicles use our road to cut over Green Lanes from Salisbury Road and up to Wightman.  I'm sure resident only traffic, even with three point turns, would be bliss!

On a practical level though what would happen if you lived at the top end of one of the middle Ladder Roads (and had a car which I don't)?  I suppose you either have to drive down Green Lanes, along Endymion and up Wightman or up Green Lanes, along Turnpike and down Wightman.

What would be useful would be a bit of an experiment.  Perhaps blocking all or some of the roads at the junction with the Passage for a week and then assessing the impact before deciding whether to go ahead.  A cheap and easy prototyping exercise?

Dustcarts and delivery lorrries?

Right. When Jono was talking about this he said it could never happen because of the number of parking spaces that would have to be removed around the passage to allow people to turn around. It's straightforward to do a three point turn out of a car parking space because you have that space and the road but if you're a lorry you're going to have to just reverse. That is why Jono said just block Wightman at either end. But of course every time I say that people think I'm mad.
