Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This is Erik (blue tabby) and Sookie (tortoise shell). They have been with me since November 2010. They came to me as 8 month old kittens. Very scared kittens. They had a rough start in life, as they were found on a building site with their four siblings, with their mother nowhere to be seen. They were taken in by Celia Hammond Animal Trust, and I decided to adopt two of them.

They are nervous cats who do not trust people easily, which is understandable given their start in life. See photo for story and the whole litter.

After careful deliberation I have decided that I am unable to give them the home they need and deserve. I am not home enough to give them the attention and interaction they need to feel 100% comfortable around humans. I also do not live on my own, and they seem to respond a lot better to women than they do to men.

I have seen a few cracks in their armour in the time I have had them with me, which is enormously rewarding, but I do not have the time needed to bring these two completely out of their shells, and it’s not fair on either of us. With the right home and patience they will be absolutely lovely cats. And you can see for yourself how beautiful they are.

Erik and Sookie would love to live with a female or two, in a calm, quiet household with no other pets or children. They need to have access to a garden, and absolutely need a cat flap. They know how to use a scratching post and a litter tray, and have impeccable manners when it comes to not scratching the furniture! They are neutered, with all vaccinations and treatments up to date.

I really do not want to put them through the trauma of being at rescue centre again, so it would be amazing if they could be spared that and go straight to their new home.

Any new home is subject to an inspection and approval from CHAT.

Any questions, please PM me, happy to answer whatever. This is not an easy thing to do, I have thought about it long and hard. I do love these two dearly as anyone who know me can confirm, but I am not the best place for them to be, and I want what’s best for them.

Hi Christopher. Just a thought, if you decided to have another cat. You might consider offering a home to one or two cats with FIV from a rescue centre, such as www.scratchingpost.co.uk or www.mayhewanimalhome.org.

@Christopher Fowler, have you seen this thread? http://www.harringayonline.com/forum/topics/nice-6-year-old-cat-nee...

You might be able to help a cat in need after all!

Thanks - posted message on the thread.
