Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi

Has anyone used the service from Finsbury Park to Gatwick Airport? Is it reliable? Is it running regularly?

Any advice would be welcome.

I have a 60+ card for TfL and a Senior Railcard -- so how would I book from Finsbury Park to Gatwick (return) using those cards, i.e. where would I book the Thameslink ticket from and to?

I just go to any station that has a ticket person and buy over the counter as the vending machines at stations don't seem able to cope with the combination of railcards.

To get the benefit of the 60+ TfL card you have to book at a ticket office, since the magic phrase on your ticket will be "Boundary Zone 6" to [destination], i.e. where your TfL card (as does the Freedom Pass) runs out.

Machines and online booking can't cope with this, though they can take your Senior Railcard into account.

I buy such tickets a couple of days in advance, stating date of travel and return, from the very helpful booking office staff at Harringay station (open M-F 0600 - 1300). Best to have both cards with you when you book, too.

Many thanks, Maggie & Gordon!

I've got too used to booking online, but Harringay station is a great option.
