Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Please be careful everyone. None of the ladder roads have been gritted and are covered in treacherous black ice. The pavements are really dangerous. People falling over everywhere including a mum with a buggy.

Any councillors on here…why this has happened when we all knew this cold snap was forecast?

Another resident on Allison Road has been told the contract to grit the roads only covers main roads. And the yellow bins won’t be filled with grit either. 😡

Yes, two out of the three Harringay Ward councillors are on the site and keep an eye on things. Garedns and Hermitage also but less so.

I've alerted Anna and Zena to your post.

I thought I saw a grifter on Pemberton last night…

I don't trust anyone on Pemberton!

I also saw a gritter!

And?…….Had the road been gritted?

I assume it has, but i have not inspected it Isobel. It could have just been using Pemberton to rat run, but I am hoping it was doings it intended job.

Rat-running on the Harringay Ladder? Nah! Would never happen.

If it did grit Pemberton then it turned the grit off when it got to Whiteman because it was an ice rink

Pemberton's a School Street - maybe it gets priority salting for safety?

I saw salt on Wightman Rd on Sunday as well as Umfreville Rd.

I'd previously seen the STILL ONGOING [Wed 7 Jan] water leak on Wightman Rd - first reported to Thames Water on Jan 1 - running across the road and creating ice in the freezing weather by Burgoyne Rd, which is why I was on the lookout for salting on Wightman to mitigate it.

That leak may be why a stretch of Wightman was 'a skating rink' this morning ->> Thames Water ???

As for black ice on pavements: difficult to de-ice all the pavements in the borough when the black ice had formed around 0200 (according to the Met Office temperature/rainfall records) and had melted by around 1200 the same day.
