TfL consulting on expanding ULEZ beyond North Circular
TfL are consulting on proposals to expand the ULEZ to cover the whole of Greater London on 29 August 2023.

Call me an old cynic but we all know what this means then, no matter the outcome of the "consultation" the ULEZ will be expanded.

I quite agree with you Neil and in my opinion this whole thing is being driven by the need to grab as much money as possible from those using private transport on the public highway.
Vehicle emissions are such a tiny fraction of what they were 50 years ago when I started driving and with so many more electric cars now coming onto our roads pollution levels are falling rapidly. Has anyone been able to make a direct comparison of London air pollution in 1972 compared to today?
At the moment all fully electric cars do not have to pay the daily congestion charge fee BUT, according to the TfL website timeline from a few months ago from December 2025 ALL vehicles, including electric will have to pay the charge.
Now, I seem to recall that when the Congestion charge was first introduced in February 2003 the main reason given was to cut traffic congestion and help reduce pollution levels. So, if the electric car produces no exhaust emissions why are they soon to be charged for entering the zone?
Other charging schemes currently being considered includes a new charge for tyre pollution. Yes, when our tyres wear out where has all the rubber gone? The list for all such schemes will become endless!! £££££

I think you've sort of answered your own question there. Exhaust emissions aren't the only form of pollution - there is also particulate matter from brakes & tyres that we're all breathing in and of course secondarily, other forms of pollution like noise too.
