It looked to me that in some restaurants there wasn't much distance between tables or chairs backing onto others. I'd be very uncomfortable eating there so I personally choose not to.

The pressure is to get people in but still sufficiently socially distanced according to the official guidelines, to be Covid safe.

Those taking part the scheme are supposed to be abiding by Covid safe guidance and, in part, the 50% discount is to make up for the fewer covers they will obviously have to have in place. If they are taking the piss like this they should be reported as the 50% they are claiming back comes from the tax you pay
