The library was closed for about ten months last year, how was this matter was not discovered then. It looks like the contractors; the surveyors; the architects; the Council have a lot of questions to answer.
Is everybody aware that if they have overdue books from this library, and can't renew online for some reason, they must take them to Hornsey Library in Crouch End?
The computerised system is still churning out fines, fallen ceiling or not, for overdue books.
Library closure update (unofficial) - work is progressing on fixing the ceiling ahead of reopening. The plaster across half the adult library ceiling has been removed, exposing the wooden laths. Today (Sunday 3 July) work was ongoing.
The last time I looked, about a week ago, what could be seen from outside was a 50cm x 50cm or so section of plaster which had peeled away from its support, in the corner of the ceiling closest to the entrance. So that's quite a bit of work taking off the rest of that plaster, and protecting everything underneath the ceiling.
