Three times now in the last two weeks I've come home late-ish from work - between 9 and 10pm - and walked up Seymour Road to find my way semi-blocked at the corner with Green Lanes, next to the off licence, by guys drinking. They've generally been pretty harmless, but very very drunk. On two of these occasions, people have been peeing against the metal boxes there. Not sure what they contain. Phone gear?
Anyway, yesterday I snapped and confronted one guy mid-pee and pointed out families lived on the street and had to walk their kids up and down the street. He initially apologised and then told me in no uncertain terms, to eff off or else.
is there anything that can done to discourage / prevent the street drinkers and their random use of public space as toilets?!

I have the same issue, it's quite intimidating coming home late and on your own with a bunch of drunks loitering at the bottom of the road. The Lion King needs to take responsibility and move these people on. Or lose their license.
Wire the box up to the mains. A relatively short term solution I admit, as the recipient will likely move on to less conductive patures!
Report it to the Harringay Safer Neighbourhoods Team and they will respond.

I have done that already, and they are looking into. It's not the first time I've reported this..
My upstairs neighbour caught a man taking a crap in our front yard the other day. You think you have problems...
I'm getting rid of the mulch. Something more spiky is called for.
It's easier to get poo off the street though. Gum is a f'er to get off...
These are men who are in practice homeless. If they have any space of their own it's likely to be in an overcrowded shared room with no social space. They are not welcome in pubs, and supermarket or illegal booze is cheaper anyway. They have no space in which to hang out, apart from the street.
There are no public toilets, except for the very infrequent opening of eg the one next to Apex House.
So they are bound to piss on the street. And I hadn't thought before our little local difficulty, of course they need a place to crap as well.
What's needed is an indoor space with these very basic provisions and minimal supervision. The problem is that all the 'social clubs' and homeless shelters don't allow drunks. I can't see this being high up LBH spending priorities, as these guys don't vote. Any ideas how this could be set up? Being annoyed with them is a bit pointless, though I do get irritated at a load of lurching blokes, in a way it's not their fault that they have ended up where they do.
I remember seeing a fine notice on the wall of a passageway near a pub in Bury St Edmunds. It read:
Any person found committing a nuisance here, or permitting a dog to do so, will be prosecuted.
