Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Steam engine 'Blue Peter' first main-line run since 2001, Harringay station Sat 13 July 1410 or so

An early afternoon outing, for a change.

'Blue Peter' is named after a racehorse not the BBC programme, though the programme had much to do in returning the engine to traffic in the 1970s and 80s. This is its first main line run since 2001 so is a notable event.

'Blue Peter' is very similar to Tornado (still undergoing a long overhaul), though built in 1948 rather than a new build. It's operating a private charter - invitation only - for Locomotive Services Limited from King's Cross to York, rather than a public excursion trip that you or I can book on. There's a naming ceremony at Kings Cross at 1300 beforehand.

Thanks Gordon!

Think I just heard it from Glenwood Road?!?!

This was great to know about! My grandfather was a signalman at Alexandra Palace in the 40s and 50s so no doubt a train he saw often. How does one find out about future steam train appearances at Harringay?
