The First month in figures
Freedom of Information request relating to the St Ann's Local Traffic Neighbourhood since introduction on 22.08.22. Period of request is for notices relating to alleged contraventions occurring in the date range 22.08.22 until 22.09.22. You also asked the following questions
- How many LTN Penalty Charge Notices have been issued to registered owners of vehicles with addresses within the N15 post codes?
- How many LTN Warning Notices have been issued to registered owners of vehicles with addresses within the N15 post codes?
- How much revenue has been received relating to LTN Penalty Charge Notices from registered owners of vehicles with addresses within the N15 post codes?
- How many Penalty Charge Notices have been issued to registered owners of vehicles with
addresses outside of the N15 post codes?
- How much revenue has been raised from LTN Penalty Charge Notices issued to registered owners of vehicles with addresses outside of the N15 post codes?
- For each of above how many vehicles were private cars, how many were commercial vehicles and how many were motorcycles?

I can confirm that of the 110 penalty charge notices issued during the period of your request 46 (forty-six) PCNs have been paid amounting to £3,510 (Three Thousand Five Hundred and Ten Pounds)
We have not yet analysed the post code distribution of the registered owners who were issued with warning notices and penalty charge notices during the period of your request. Also, we do not have information about the number of commercial vehicles, private vehicles or motor cycles that have been issued with notices in the period of your request.

I’m still waiting for a response to comments and queries e-mailed to Traffic Orders (and also directly to Ann Cunningham, the relevant officer) in August, so I wouldn’t hold your breath….

That’s my experience too when dealing with LBH.
I don’t know what has happened to the target of Members’ Enquires having to be responded to within 10 working days.

I clicked on this expecting it to be an analysis of traffic stats.
Interesting to see. Clearly starting with a light touch which I think is sensible.
I wonder if those fined were repeat offenders or just past a certain date.

My neighbour on Avondale Road told me he got 15! He hadn’t read any of the material and didn’t notice the signs, barriers or cameras!

The sign said you needed a permit. Since he had a parking permit, maybe he assumed it would be OK. It was left to a local resident that had to put a sign on one box telling people it was a different permit. A £195 fine for assuming a parking permit is a permit sounds fair enough. And if you assumed that 15 times, £2,925...a bargain.
I got a penalty with no warning in Crouch End for a tiny sign on a lampost that is barely noticable when turning into the road. They must be making an absolute fortune from that one.

I think it’s generally accepted (even by the council) that the on-street St Ann’s LTN signage was really inadequate when the scheme started, and I don’t think notification to residents was anything like good enough either. The subsequent LTN start dates were then delayed so that signage and notification could be in place before they began.

Not much surprise here. The LTNs are cash cows - a local tax and one that they are budgeting in for 5 years time.
The community feedback is a bluff. So this is where democracy dies.
