Grim!
Very frightening this is near my mums house - went past the scene earlier the road is still closed.

Nearly three years ago there was a stabbing near the same site.

A number of people were convicted and sentenced soon after.

I noticed that there was a report of someone trying to do it a while back but the gun not going off or back firing and then they ran away.

I saw a ted talk once which said as a city doubles in size it enjoyes a 15 percent efficiency benefit in everything. 15% more productive workers, 15% better culture, 15% more houses etc but it also gains 15% more crime.

It's like crime is considered normal 'industry' by the universe. Maybe the growth of anarchy and disorder is a natural part of human life.

This is an average of course, there our outliers but apparently what so is breathtaking about the theory is how accurate and uniform the 15% increases tend to be when you look at the big picture.

Latest gossip is there was a bit of a row at the Caribean shop there and some guys came back and tried to shoot with an Uzi but it sprayed out of control and hit two passersby, killing one. I don't normally say 'these people need locking up' but I do hope the Bill get these murderous idiots soon. I mean drive by shooting in broad daylight??

I can't believe with so many fast legs, taxi cars and mobile phones around, they got away with it.

I guess the sight of an oozi is a little bit out of the average Wood Greener comfort zone.

Word is they are dangerous amateurs and they are likely to be going down before long...

To a degree does it not make you glad that gun control laws are so strict here vs somewhere like the US.

After an incident with a South Korean lad (if memory serves) shooting up his school/university and killing a dozen odd folks I asked a US colleague of mine (an uber-leftie in American terms) if it would do anything for the gun control lobby. Without missing a heart beat he replied "Yes! If more folks were carrying their own fire arm the guy would have been taken out earlier and killed less people". (Guns do not kill people, people kill people). Thankfully he told me this was not his opinion but it was an active opinion by the gun lobby in the US.

Piers Morgan was hounded off his chat show and out of the US recently after (among other things) coming down firmly in the anti gun lobby camp in the US, and telling the US how little he could understand their mentality and relationship with fire arms. Here (if you have not seen it) is a debate (rant) between Piers and Alex Jones. Jones is an ardent gun advocate. It is worth watching if only to understand where this argument comes from in the US.

The gun lobby in the USA is underwritten by the arms industry. Drugs cartels in Mexico and Latin America are heavily armed with US weapons and this has at times been proven to be facilitated by US state interests. For the same reason, bombing is the first option to carry out US foreign policy. Even as we speak, Saudi Arabia uses UK and US weapons to bomb Yemen (a war crime) and is currently blockading Yemen, causing starvation and deprivation to 21 million people. This is an international crime by any standards, but since SA is our 'friend' nothing is said.

Remember that's the latest gossip - probably best we base our opinions on facts rather than scare mongering no?

What's with all the deleted replies?

They were deleted as being inappropriate on this thread. Screenshots were sent to the principal authors with an invitation to repost them on a new thread. Both, along with the protagonist, replied that they were happy with things as they were. Would you like copies of the screenshots?

You recognise I hope Justin, that we're damned if we do take action to moderate and damned if we don't. But we make the best decisions we can in line with our policy. Sticking with the current moderation decision, please let's have any further discussion about this on another thread.
