The Queen’s Birthday Honours list has been published in recognition of the achievements and services of extraordinary people right across the United Kingdom.
Sharon Grant, Haringey Citizen’s Advice Bureaux Chair has today been awarded an OBE, in recognition of her service to the community.
Sharon has lived in Haringey for over 30 years. Sharon has worked voluntarily with the Citizen’s Advice Bureau since 2008 as Chair of the Board of Trustees.
Lynn Hannah, Chief Executive at Haringey Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB) says:
“We would like to congratulate Sharon on her achievement. She richly deserves this recognition. She has worked endlessly to support our services, staff and volunteers within Haringey CAB, as chair of Healthwatch Haringey, and elsewhere in the local community.
“We are very proud and fortunate to have her skills, expertise and community connections to develop the organisation for the future. I would like to thank her for all the dedicated time and hard work she has generously given to me and the service.”

Yeah those community connections, they're worth a lot.
The CAB has to rely on charity rather than being properly funded by the government and this is a good thing?
I love and am grateful to this country for helping us
If the CAB were funded by the Government, its advice would sooner or later come to peddle the Government line. This is a good thing ?
Congratulations to Sharon Grant.
Not everyone locally is a fan and my exposure to local politics has led me to be cynical enough to avoid any congratulations. I will say it's a tough job and somebody's gotta to it though.

John M benevolence is better if State funded? If as you say you're "cynical enough [of politics] to avoid congratulations" surely this is a great example as Nerendra says, of social provision that can't be effected by ever changing govt. policy/funding?
